Tidbit Thursday
It’s Cool to be Cold-blooded
What does it mean to be an ectotherm?
And who is one-maybe a worm?
Our body temperature is not steady
In changing weather, we must be ready
When it’s warm we bask in the sun
Taking in heat so our systems can run
When it is cold outside, we slow way down
Some of us hide underground.
Cold blooded animals are we
Like a snake or a honeybee
We include the reptiles and fish
Amphibians and worms are on the list.
Adjusting our body temperature gets harder
As climate change goes farther and farther.
Learn more about us because we’re not just cold,
we’re pretty COOL!!!
Here are some articles about being cold-blooded, especially in a changing climate.
